Volunteering in CPSD

Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience! We appreciate everything volunteers do to help us reach our goal of academic success for all children.

Volunteer activities vary from school to school. With our new online application, you can select where you want to volunteer and the type of activity in which you are willing to participate. Some volunteer opportunities require additional training such as mentoring students through Communities in Schools, and Volunteer Coaching, which needs prior approval from the Head Coach and the Athletic Director.

All Volunteer activities require:

  • Online application with background check
  • Required training via an online link (provided in approval email from online application)

When you enter the online Volunteer Application (English | Spanish), make sure you enter your name the same way it reads on your state or government issued ID card. You will need a valid email address so we can notify you of your application status. All information collected on the application will remain confidential and not shared outside the volunteer program.

Your application submission authorizes CPSD to conduct a background check through Washington State Patrol. Once approved, you will receive an email from RAPTOR with a link to the online training. You will need to create your own username to register for the training. If you exit the site, you will need a new username to re-enter. Required training includes:

  • Boundary Limits – video
  • Volunteer Handbook

When you report to the school to volunteer for the first time, you will need to:

  • Show your driver’s license or state issued ID card
  • Show proof that you have completed your volunteer training (printed certificates, a screenshot or a picture of completed training)

Contact a school or your child's teacher to learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities.

All applications expire at the end of every school year. Every volunteer must re-apply at the start of each new school year.

If you have any questions about the application or problems with submission, please contact Holly Bocchi; [email protected], the district Volunteer Coordinator.
