Our Mission

Idlewild's mission is to create inquiring, knowledgeable, compassionate, principled, and action oriented students who help create a better world. By providing a rigorous program of inquiry based on transdisciplinary themes, our students will become internationally minded citizens prepared for the 21st century.

Parent and Community Involvement

Parent and community engagement is key to student success. All parents, family and community members are invited to be involved in our school. We offer a variety of ways for interested individuals to support our students. Some examples include joining our parent organization, volunteer tutoring, chaperoning field trips, serving as a site council member and helping with school special events. School Improvement Plan

Goal #1 - Academic Goal: Of the K-3 students enrolled at Idlewild Elementary, benchmark students and below benchmark students will meet the growth expectations on the following assessments: STAR Early Literacy/Reading, Fontas and Pinnelle (Levels) and Phonemic Awareness.

Goal #2 - Family Engagement Goal: In the 2021-22 school year, the Idlewild staff will engage with families and the community that represent our diverse students.

Goal #3 - Social Emotional Goal: By Spring 2022, through embedding MTSS systems and support, we will alleviate disproportionality (according to the school's race, ethnicity, IEP status, and SES status data) in our academic and behavioral referrals K-5.

Facility Use and Condition

Our school is used throughout the school year during non-school hours by parents, community organizations and recreation groups. A facility use application is required for use of our facility and can be obtained by calling 253-583-7354. The general condition of our school is rated as excellent per the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction scoring guidelines.
