Parent and Community Involvement

Parent and community engagement is key to student success. All parents, family and community members are invited to be involved in our school. We offer a variety of ways for interested individuals to support our students. Some examples include joining our parent organization, volunteer tutoring, chaperoning field trips, serving as a site council member and helping with school special events. School Improvement Plan

SY 2021-22 SMARTIE Goal #1:

  • Students that are continuously enrolled at Tyee Park that scored Above grade level on the Fall Star Assessment, will have a median SGP of 50% based on the Fall to Spring Star Assessment by May 2022.
  • Students that are continuously enrolled at Tyee Park that scored At grade level on the Fall Star Assessment, will have a median SGP of 50% based on the Fall to Spring Star Assessment by May 2022.
  • Students that are continuously enrolled at Tyee Park that scored at the Approaching grade level on the Fall Star Assessment, will have a median SGP of 55% based on the Fall to Spring Star Assessment by May 2022.
  • Students that are continuously enrolled at Tyee Park that scored at the Intervention level on the Fall Star Assessment, will have a median SGP of 55% based on the Fall to Spring Star Assessment by May 2022.
  • Students that are continuously enrolled at Tyee Park that scored at the Intensive Intervention level on the Fall Star Assessment, will have a median SGP of 60% based on the Fall to Spring Star Assessment by May 2022.

SY 2021-22 SMARTIE Goal #2: Family Engagement Goal

  • As measured by the 2020-21 Educational Effectiveness Survey, Tyee Park parents reported that 57% felt they were able to participate in important decisions about their students' education. 55% felt they had the ability to provide input towards school improvement plans and 66% felt that effective school communication was received on a consistent basis. During the 2021-22 school year, Tyee Park will work to increase communication and outreach strategies in an attempt to elevate caregiver voice to 80% in all three categories listed above.

SY 2021-22 SMARTIE Goal #3: Social Emotional Goal

  • As measured by the 2020-21 Whole Child Whole Day Student Perception Survey, 71% of Tyee Park students believed that adults in the building cared if they were not present or not engaged. 79.5% of students shared that they enjoyed engaging in school most days. By Spring 2022, 89.5% or more students will report that they enjoy engaging in school and that the adults in the building care if they are present and engaged.

Facility Use and Condition

Our school is used throughout the school year during non-school hours by parents, community organizations and recreation groups. A facility use application is required for use of our facility and can be obtained by calling 253-583-7354. The general condition of our school is rated as excellent per the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction scoring guidelines.
